Questions

Is Backspace free?

Yes. Logging, rating, reviews, lists, your backlog and following friends are all free, with no ads. Backspace Pro is an optional yearly subscription (£14.99 a year in the UK) that lets you customise covers, your profile and the app's colours, and adds deeper stats.

Where does the game information come from?

Game details such as titles, cover art, release dates and developers come from IGDB, a large community-maintained games database.

Can I keep my reviews private?

Yes. Each review can be public, visible only to friends (people you follow who follow you back), or private to you. You can also mark a review as containing spoilers.

Which platforms can I log?

Any platform a game was released on: PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, mobile, Mac and older consoles too.

How do I cancel Pro?

Pro is billed through the App Store or Google Play, so you cancel it there: in iPhone Settings under your name → Subscriptions, or in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to your profile, open Settings, then Privacy → Delete account. See Deleting your account for what is removed and what to do if you can't get into the app.
