Backspace™Delete your account in the app
- Open Backspace and go to your Profile.
- Tap the settings icon in the top corner.
- Tap Privacy, then Delete account.
- Confirm your password, or sign in again with Apple or Google if that's how you joined, then tap Delete my account.
Deletion is permanent and can't be undone.
Can't get into the app?
Email harrymeldon@gmail.com from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my Backspace account” and your username. We may ask you to confirm it's you, then we'll delete the account and let you know within 7 days.
If you signed up with Sign in with Apple and hid your email, write from any address and include your username. We'll confirm ownership another way before deleting anything.
What gets deleted
| When | What happens |

| Straight away | You're signed out on every device. Your profile, reviews, logged plays, ratings, lists and comments are taken down and no one can see them. Your email address, name, bio, profile photo and password are removed, any Apple or Google sign-in is unlinked, and notifications to your devices stop. |
| After 30 days | Your username is released and someone else can register it. It stays reserved until then so no one can impersonate you. |
| Within 30 days | Remaining records linked to your account are permanently erased. |
| Kept longer | Records we must keep by law, such as subscription transaction records for tax (up to six years), and moderation records about serious abuse. See our Privacy Policy. |
If you have Backspace Pro
Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription, because Apple or Google bills it. Cancel it first:
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Backspace → Cancel subscription.
- Android: Google Play → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Backspace → Cancel.
